Are there any dishes which are linked with te place you live? Take Bakewell Tart. This is how it came about. In 1820 a Mrs Greave was the landlady of the White Horse IInn in Bakewell (this is now the Rutland Arms). She instructed her cook who was inexperienced to make a pudding and told her to mix an egg mixture with a secret ingredient into a pastry case and put strawberry jam on top of it. The cook misunderstood and put the egg mixture on top of the jam and made a tart, not a pudding. The guests at the hotel loved it and it became a speciality.
